Disambiguation |
Castles were fortresses made during the middle ages.
Structure and Design[]
Many early castles were reused roman forts. Later designs in the middle ages added features like moats, trenches, and walls. Castles also contained things like a keep and things like blacksmiths, bakery or farmhouses so that they could be self-sufficient.
The Wall[]
The wall around a castle was usually built with two small walls of stone bricks, with a pile of dirt and gravel between them.
